Deal terms
How reserving, redeeming and Gotu credit work.
This is a translation. If the English and the Dutch text differ, the Dutch version prevails.
Reserving
Choose an available date, party size and quantity and reserve the deal. You can reserve until 30 minutes before the end of the time window. The contents and specific conditions are on the deal page and apply as they were when you reserved. If it says "not combinable", you cannot reserve another deal at that place on the same visit date; venue rewards and Gotu credit can always be used.
Paying and redeeming
You pay at the place. Redeem your deal during the time window: open it in My deals and show the 4-character code on your screen to the staff. The staff enter the code on a signed-in device of the place and your deal is processed. A code works only once and only at that place. A screenshot of a redeemed deal does not count. A redemption cannot be confirmed remotely: it only counts if you are at the place at that moment.
Cancelling and no-shows
You can cancel free of charge until a quarter of the time window has passed. A reserved deal that you neither cancel nor redeem counts as a no-show. After repeated no-shows you may temporarily be unable to reserve at that place or at Gotu. If you think a no-show is unjustified, get in touch via Help in the app.
Alcohol
Gotu is for people aged 18 and over. A deal can include alcohol; by law the venue does not serve alcohol to people under 18 and may ask for ID. The venue is responsible for keeping a discount on alcohol within the municipality's rules. If an offer says "Does not apply to alcohol", alcohol is excluded from the discount. Drink responsibly.
Gotu credit
You earn Gotu (1 Gotu = €1) when a friend you invited has redeemed three deals at at least two different places; your friend also gets 5 Gotu. The code must be used before your friend's first redeemed deal. An invitation to an account on the same device as the inviter's earns no credit, unless Gotu decides otherwise after review.
You pay with Gotu at the Gotu places that accept Gotu credit (most do; you can see it per place in the app), while they are open, from 5 Gotu and then in steps of 2.5 Gotu (with less than 5 Gotu you keep saving), on the whole bill. Before you pay, you choose whether the amount goes to food and non-alcoholic drinks or to alcohol. The staff enter your 4-character code and process the amount; you get a notification straight away, so you can report a payment that is not yours at once. Gotu credit is not cash, cannot be transferred and cannot be exchanged for money. It expires 12 months after you earned it; you use the oldest credit first. In case of misuse or an invitation earned unjustly, Gotu can withdraw credit or declare a payment invalid.
Who is responsible for what
The venue delivers what you reserve and redeem and decides its own opening hours, menu, prices and conditions. If the venue is closed on your visit date or open differently from what the app shows, if what the venue told you is wrong (for example about the menu, price, availability or allergens), or if the staff refuse your deal or reward, the venue sorts that out with you. To the extent the law permits, Gotu is not responsible for this.
If the cause is Gotu's app or systems (for example a code that does not work or a redemption, stamp or credit that was registered wrongly), Gotu will put it right and, where reasonable, make up for it in kind, for example by restoring your deal, stamps or credit. Read more in section 6 of the terms of use.
Problems
Report a problem from My deals or from the receipt of a Gotu payment, so that Gotu can find the right redemption. Or email support@gotu-app.com.
